These communities demonstrate that a shared mission of service, collaboration in daily affairs, and mutual honor and accountability makes a better world than is possible through competitive, technology-mediated relationships.

Communities cannot exist without an economic base. Both shared and privately-owned businesses maintain financial self-sufficiency and provide a commercial platform for community employment. They love and serve customers, suppliers, government, and other stakeholders.  The community’s businesses sometimes take on services the government cannot provide adequately.  Governments favor entities that pay taxes while also helping to reduce social costs.

The ideal community is a testimony to the world of how people conduct themselves when they share a common covenant with their God.  Its members make decisions on governance, business, and mission in egalitarian ways that share rather than sequester. Although the community members live independently, they do things together when possible; including worship, study, pray, work, and fellowship as an expression of God’s design for humanity.
